From the President’s Activity Report: Chinese New Year in Downtown and Corbett

Four hundred community visitors attended Chinese New Year celebrations at the Branigan Cultural Center on February 17. NMSU’s Confucius Institute organized the downtown event and partnered with the Chinese Students and Scholars Association of NMSU to present a grand celebration on campus.  Seven hundred visitors came to Corbett Center to be treated to arts and crafts, lion dances, and wonderful Chinese feast.  The traditional performances and offerings were made possible by the Confucius Institute, teachers and students. A third New Year’s celebration was presented at UTEP, again organized by the Confucius Institute with the participation of CI students from the El Paso area.
